Shin Bet to Provide Security Detail for Gadi Eisenkot

The head of the Shin Bet, Ronen Bar, has approved security protection for Gadi Eisenkot, chairman of the National Unity Party, by the agency's Personal Security Unit. The decision was reported Sunday evening by Kan News. The exact details of the security arrangement will be finalized in the coming days, after which the unit will begin its protective duties for the former IDF chief of staff.

Bar's decision follows weeks of deliberation after a ministerial committee authorized him to make the final call on Eisenkot's security. However, the Shin Bet chief has yet to decide on security for Yair Golan, chairman of the Democratic Party, despite ongoing discussions within the agency due to threats against him.

Last week, Kan News reported that the Democratic Party threatened to petition the High Court of Justice if Golan's security was not approved by Monday. This action was prompted by the Police's Threats Division assessing the threat level against both Eisenkot and Golan as a 4 out of a possible 6.

The threat level against Golan has reportedly escalated significantly in recent months, particularly after an interview with Sara Netanyahu, who suggested Golan might have had prior knowledge of the October 7th attacks.
