Viral Gaming Controller MCON Launches in Israel

The MCON magnetic gaming controller, developed by American company OhSnap and imported by iCon Group, has officially launched in Israel. This accessory aims to transform smartphones into portable gaming consoles, similar to the Nintendo Switch.

The MCON features a foldable design that attaches to smartphones via MagSafe or a dedicated adapter for Android devices. When not in use, it folds into a flat, pocket-sized unit. A key feature is the "Kickback" mode, which allows the controller to function as a standalone wireless controller with the phone propped up as a stand.

Internally, the controller boasts GameSir's TMR joysticks and Hall Effect sensors, designed to prevent joystick drift. It also includes a gyroscope for motion control, removable grips, a battery offering approximately 9 hours of gameplay, and Bluetooth connectivity for up to three devices, including PCs and Macs.

Professional reviews note some design compromises. The phone's placement at the top of the controller can make it "top-heavy," potentially straining the wrists with heavier devices. The buttons and joysticks are also relatively small, resembling Nintendo's Joy-Con controllers. The wireless-only Bluetooth connection might be a concern for competitive gamers.

The MCON is available in Israel at major retailers including iDigital, Bug, and Shkufim Electric, with a recommended retail price of 599 shekels (approximately $160 USD), or 507 shekels in Eilat. This positions it at the higher end of the mobile controller market, offering a unique, compact solution for cloud gaming services like Xbox Cloud and GeForce NOW.
