Top Rabbi Warns of Existential Battle for Torah Study

Rabbi Dov Landau, a prominent Lithuanian yeshiva leader, delivered a rare and forceful address in the city of Elad during the intermediate days of the Sukkot holiday. Speaking after delivering a special holiday lesson at the new Slabodka Beit Midrash, Rabbi Landau described the current situation for Torah scholars as a "fateful and existential battle."

He emphasized the gravity of the situation, stating, "This is not a regular battle, this is a battle for the Torah itself! This is a battle for those who study Torah! And one must not take this lightly."

The rabbi concluded his remarks with a prayer for divine assistance, expressing a wish for the community to "merit heavenly aid, and be able to continue to study with greater intensity, to be immersed in study, absorbed in learning, and not concerned with worldly matters."

Rabbi Landau's message, delivered to young students, urged them to remain steadfast in their commitment to religious study amidst perceived challenges to the world of Torah learning.
