Rabbi Dov Lando Addresses Thousands in Tiberias, Cites Divine Reliance Amidst Challenges

Thousands of Tiberias residents gathered on Wednesday for a Torah study event led by Rabbi Dov Lando, a prominent Haredi rabbi. During the event, Rabbi Lando delivered words of encouragement and spiritual upliftment ahead of the High Holy Days, specifically addressing the difficulties faced by the Torah study community.

He began by praising the flourishing of Torah study, particularly in Tiberias, which has recently become home to hundreds of students from various Haredi streams. Rabbi Lando emphasized the supreme value of Torah study, stating, "Torah study and engagement with Torah is the most sublime thing that exists in the world, and Torah study is equivalent to all [the commandments]."

The rabbi then turned to the challenges confronting yeshiva students and married scholars, as well as governmental actions impacting the Torah world. "We all know that the Torah world is in a very difficult situation, and the authorities' persecution weighs heavier on the Torah world day by day. Every single Torah scholar feels the burden of these decrees," he stated.

Rabbi Lando stressed that salvation does not depend on the political system or any specific individual. "We do not depend on so-and-so, or on this or that prime minister, but solely on the Creator of the world. We all hope and pray that He will have mercy on His people, especially on the world of Torah."

As the High Holy Days approach, Rabbi Lando urged the public to increase their merits through Torah study and good deeds to invoke divine mercy. He concluded with a prayer for a good inscription and swift, everlasting redemption.
