Netflix Matchmaking Star Connects Hundreds of Olim in Jerusalem

Hundreds of young Jewish immigrants, or olim, gathered in Jerusalem for a special dating event hosted by Netflix's "Jewish Matchmaking" star, Aleeza Ben Shalom. The event, held at the historic National Institutions Building, aimed to connect singles who have recently made aliyah and are seeking to build their lives in Israel.

Ben Shalom, a prominent figure in modern Jewish matchmaking, shared her insights and facilitated introductions, emphasizing the importance of these connections for the future of the Jewish people. "Investing in the future of the Jewish people," she stated, "Jewish continuity begins with a Jewish connection: one introduction can turn into a marriage, a Jewish home, a family, and the beginning of future generations."

The event, titled "Meet. Mingle. Party.," included dinner, cocktails, games, and dancing, fostering a sense of Jewish pride and youthful Zionism. Participants came from around the world, primarily the US and Canada, with many recently arriving or already settling in Israel. The event was a joint initiative by the World Zionist Organization, the Jerusalem Municipality, and the organization Nefesh B'Nefesh.

Rabbi Doron Perez, president of the World Zionist Organization, highlighted the symbolic significance of the venue, stating, "The building where the state was born is the most natural place for love to be born as well." He added that helping these young people build homes in Israel is a shared responsibility.

The gathering reflects a growing trend of creative approaches to connecting Jewish singles, moving beyond traditional methods to organized events and specialized dating apps. Organizers view such events as crucial for the integration of new immigrants, supporting them not only professionally and economically but also socially and personally.
