Netflix Star Aliza Ben Shalom Highlights Key Dating Mistake Hindering Thousands from Marriage
In a recent interview with Lital Shemesh on Channel 14, international matchmaker and Netflix star Aliza Ben Shalom discussed the challenges of modern dating and revealed a significant increase in motivation among Jews in the diaspora to find Jewish partners since October 7. Ben Shalom emphasized the importance of prioritizing dating as much as career development, especially for singles in their 30s.
Ben Shalom explained that many young adults delay marriage due to a strong focus on independence, education, and career advancement, often prioritizing financial success over finding a life partner. She advised young people to treat dating like a job and dedicate equal effort to finding a spouse.
Addressing the Jewish community in America, she noted a decline in marrying within the faith over the years but highlighted a recent surge in awareness about the importance of marrying Jewish partners following events on October 7. She contrasted this with Israel, where finding a match is easier due to stronger family focus and tighter social networks.
Regarding matchmaking in the social media era, Ben Shalom said that while technology provides more resources, it also creates distractions that complicate the process. Nonetheless, she remains optimistic about her work, confident that soulmates exist and can be found despite the challenges.
