Suspect Arrested After Nine Months in Father-Son Murder Case

Israeli police on Sunday morning arrested a 29-year-old man from Yafia al-Nasira, suspected of involvement in the murder of Khaled and Majd Mahajna, a father and son killed in Nazareth late last year. The arrest was made by the Northern District's Central Unit following a complex, covert investigation. A Nazareth Magistrate's Court extended the suspect's remand until October 1st to facilitate further investigation.

Khaled Mahajna, 49, and his son Majd, 20, were shot and killed in the al-Krum neighborhood of Nazareth on the evening of December 20, 2025. According to the victims' family, the father and son had gone to resolve an ordinary dispute when they were ambushed and shot in the upper body. The family stated the crime occurred suddenly, with no prior indication the dispute would escalate to murder.

At the time of the killings, police announced the discovery of weapons believed to have been used in the crime but did not report any arrests. The double homicide brought the number of Arab community murder victims in Israel since the start of 2025 to 247, with 205 deaths resulting from shootings. Of the victims, 122 were under 30, including seven children under 18.

The recent arrest comes approximately nine months after the crime, which shocked Yafia al-Nasira and Nazareth. Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the murders.
