UK Arrests Hamas Leader's Ex-Bodyguard on Terror Plot Charges
A former bodyguard for Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh was arrested in London in November 2025 on suspicion of planning attacks against Jewish and Israeli targets in Europe, according to a report in the British newspaper The Times. The suspect, identified in the UK as 'Mr. X' due to legal protections, was apprehended following intelligence shared by Israel and Germany.
German authorities have filed charges against the individual, accusing him of involvement in plotting attacks against Jewish centers, Israeli diplomats, and pro-Israel demonstrations in Germany and Austria. He is also alleged to have transferred handguns and ammunition from Berlin to Vienna.
Foreign reports suggest the suspect is Muhammad Na'im, the son of Bassam Na'im, a senior official in Hamas's political bureau. He previously served on Haniyeh's personal security detail in the Gaza Strip. After leaving Gaza, he relocated to the UK, where he was granted asylum and later obtained British citizenship.
Discussions are reportedly underway regarding the possibility of his extradition to Israel.
