Yair Golan Advocates for Arab Party Inclusion in Israeli Government

Yair Golan, chairman of the Democratic Party, stated on Sunday that he believes an Arab party should be part of the Israeli government, emphasizing his support for Jewish-Arab partnership and adequate Arab representation.

Speaking on Kan Reshet Bet, Golan argued that it is natural, correct, worthy, and democratic for Arab parties to join the government, viewing it as a genuine correction after years of incitement. He highlighted that those who care for IDF soldiers in hospitals, from orderlies to doctors, deserve to be partners in governance.

This statement follows a meeting of opposition bloc leaders at Yair Lapid's home, where they signed a four-principle document to maintain the bloc's unity. The agreement includes a commitment by party leaders not to attack other parties within the bloc or the agreed-upon leader, and to establish joint working teams within 48 hours.

When questioned by interviewer Aryeh Golan about the stance of figures like Liberman, Eizenkot, and Bennett, who have previously stated they would not form a government relying on an Arab party, Golan expressed his belief that they would support the idea, referencing the precedent of a government including the United Arab List (Ra'am).

Golan declined to definitively name Gadi Eizenkot as the bloc's leader, stating that this decision would be made later. The meeting included leaders from various parties aiming to form an alternative government.
