Netanyahu Envoy Met Qatar Representative Day Before UN Speech

Michael Eisenberg, a personal envoy for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Gaza affairs, met with Qatari Minister Ali Al-Thawadi in New York on Wednesday, September 25th. The meeting occurred just one day before Netanyahu delivered a speech at the United Nations General Assembly, during which he sharply criticized Qatar.

The two officials discussed the implementation of the Trump plan for Gaza and humanitarian steps Israel committed to undertaking. Their private conversation lasted approximately half an hour and focused on the situation in the Gaza Strip. This meeting followed a session of the Peace Council concerning an initial rehabilitation plan for Gaza, previously revealed by N12.

Al-Thawadi, representing the Emir of Qatar, had previously participated in a call where Netanyahu apologized to the Qatari Prime Minister at the White House a year prior. During his UN address on Thursday, September 26th, Netanyahu accused Qatar of funding a "multi-billion dollar industry of lies" against Israel and hosting Hamas terrorists involved in the October 7th attacks.

Netanyahu stated in his speech, "There is an eighth front in this war. This is the war over truth. The war is being waged in global media and especially on social networks. Several foreign countries have invested huge sums to spread lies." He specifically targeted Qatar, alleging they began decades ago by funding American universities and "toxic media channels like Al Jazeera," aiming to indoctrinate young people to hate Israel, America, and the West.

The Prime Minister's office provided no comment regarding the details of the New York meeting.
