Israeli-Russian Couple Arrested in Montenegro With Spy Gear and Cash
A Russian-Israeli couple, identified as 31-year-old Alexander Kruglyansky and 42-year-old Alexandra, were apprehended at Tivat Airport in Montenegro as they were about to board a flight to Israel. The pair, who reportedly hold both Russian and Israeli citizenship, are suspected of fraud and money laundering. Authorities found 19 suitcases belonging to the couple, which contained unauthorized electronic equipment, medications, and significant sums of money. Among the seized items were a GPS device with a microphone, a bug detector, and surveillance cameras, raising suspicions of potential espionage activities.
Further searches of properties used by the couple in the Montenegrin cities of Budva and Bar uncovered approximately one million euros and additional electronic devices. The cash found in the suitcases at the airport amounted to 26,210 euros and 1150 Israeli shekels. The court has ordered their detention extended for one month due to fears they might flee.
Kruglyansky was reportedly employed in the advanced technology sector in Moscow. The couple was en route to Israel when they were detained.
