UEFA Fines and Suspends Ban for Beitar Jerusalem Over Fan Misconduct
Beitar Jerusalem has been handed a significant fine and a suspended ban by UEFA following incidents during their Conference League qualifying match against Austria Vienna. The club was sanctioned for two main offenses: racist and/or discriminatory behavior by its fans, and the lighting of pyrotechnics.
For the discriminatory behavior, Beitar Jerusalem was fined 30,000 euros and issued a ban on selling tickets to their fans for one away match in UEFA competitions. However, this ticket ban has been suspended for a two-year probationary period. This means that Beitar fans can continue to attend away games in Europe for now, but any similar offense during the probation could see the ban activated.
Additionally, the club was fined 2,750 euros for the use of pyrotechnics by supporters during the same match. Beitar Jerusalem's European campaign has already concluded for the season.
