UEFA Fines Hapoel Tel Aviv and Bans Ticket Sales for Away Match
UEFA's disciplinary committee has imposed sanctions on Hapoel Tel Aviv following incidents during their Conference League qualifier against Atalanta on August 20, which ended in a 0-0 draw. The club was fined a total of 43,000 euros and banned from selling tickets to its fans for its next away European match.
The sanctions stem from the lighting of flares by Hapoel fans, which triggered a suspended sentence from a previous UEFA decision on August 5. This resulted in the immediate ban on ticket sales for the upcoming away game.
In addition to activating the suspended sentence, Hapoel Tel Aviv was fined 35,000 euros. A new suspended sentence was also issued, prohibiting ticket sales for another future away match, valid for a two-year probationary period.
Furthermore, the club received an additional 8,000 euro fine for causing damage to stadium facilities. UEFA has instructed Hapoel Tel Aviv to contact Atalanta to arrange payment and compensate the home team for the damages incurred.
