Israeli Forces Raid Birzeit University During Student Exams

Israeli occupation forces raided the campus of Birzeit University, north of Ramallah in the West Bank, on Saturday. The incursion occurred while students were taking their final summer semester exams. Local reports indicated that Israeli forces entered the university grounds and photographed the "Martyrs' Monument" before withdrawing without making any arrests. The university administration condemned the raid, stating in a release that it took place during final exams and was accompanied by "intimidation and terrorizing of students." They emphasized that the occupation's targeting of educational institutions disrupts the academic process and violates international charters and laws that protect educational facilities.

Birzeit University has approximately 13,400 students enrolled across nine faculties and 174 academic programs, according to data for the 2025-2026 academic year. This is not the first time the university has faced Israeli raids; a notable previous incident occurred in January, when Israeli forces stormed the campus, resulting in injuries to several students. The university documents a long history of such incursions into its grounds.
