Israeli Hiker Missing for Five Days on Mount Olympus

An Israeli man, Ami Yogev, 46, from Modi'in, has been missing on Greece's Mount Olympus since Sunday, September 22nd. He last spoke with his mother, Shoshi Debi, on Sunday afternoon, and his car, containing his belongings including valuable equipment and a guitar, was found at the trailhead. Yogev had reportedly reached the summit, taken a photo, and was seen by a local guide with an injured leg, but stated he did not need assistance and was descending.

His family is deeply concerned, emphasizing that Yogev would not disappear voluntarily and that they are in "critical minutes" as search efforts continue. A private Israeli search and rescue team from Magnus has been deployed, utilizing drones and dozens of volunteers, but has so far been unsuccessful. The family has launched a crowdfunding campaign to finance the ongoing search operations, as Yogev traveled without insurance and the initial donations are insufficient to cover even the first few days of the extensive search.

"I think he slipped, but God knows from where and to where," his mother stated, expressing her anguish and the difficulty of maintaining hope. The family is pleading for public assistance to fund private rescue teams and expand the search efforts to bring Yogev home, highlighting the urgency of the situation.
