Tamir Blatt Spotted at Hapoel Tel Aviv Practice Amid Loan Speculation

Israeli basketball player Tamir Blatt was seen at a Hapoel Tel Aviv practice session on Friday, despite still recovering from an injury. The club posted photos of him on social media, sparking speculation that he might remain with the team rather than being loaned out for the upcoming season. Hapoel Tel Aviv had previously intended to loan the point guard, with a move to Budućnost being considered.

However, the team's loss to Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Winner Cup final and a poor start to their EuroLeague campaign may have prompted a change of plans. "It's quite clear that a player of Tamir Blatt's caliber, if he's not in the EuroLeague plans, won't be here just for the league," sources within the club told Walla Sport recently, adding that his situation would become clearer soon.

Blatt is not yet cleared to play or practice fully. In their recent EuroLeague opening loss to Bayern Munich, Hapoel Tel Aviv dressed Eugene German instead. Blatt previously played for Hapoel Tel Aviv from 2014 to 2017, with a loan spell at A.S. Ramat Hasharon. He also played for Hapoel Holon, Hapoel Jerusalem (twice), and Alba Berlin before joining Maccabi Tel Aviv in the summer of 2023.

Last season, the Israeli national team point guard averaged 9.6 points, 1.5 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game in the domestic league, and 7.1 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 5.2 assists per game in the EuroLeague.
