Israel's Manor Solomon Faces Potential Sanctions for Referee Comments

Israeli footballer Manor Solomon may face disciplinary action following his post-match comments criticizing the referee after Israel's 3-1 loss to Austria. Keith Hackett, a former referee, suggested that Solomon's remarks could be reviewed by the relevant authorities, potentially leading to sanctions.

Hackett addressed Solomon's comments, stating that they would "definitely be examined by the authorities." He noted that "statements regarding referees often get players into trouble," indicating a possibility of punishment for Solomon.

Solomon, who plays for West Ham, had expressed frustration after the game, particularly regarding a yellow card shown to teammate Anan Khalaili for celebrating with a corner flag. Solomon stated, "I don't know the rules well enough, but we are playing away and we know that the officiating is not always in our favor. This is not the first time, but we have to deal with it. I don't want to use it as an excuse." He added, "I'm sure that in most cases they wouldn't have given a second yellow for that."

The incident occurred after Khalaili received a second yellow card for his celebration, which Solomon felt was an unfair decision contributing to the team's difficulties during the away match.
