Israeli UN Envoy Offers Starlink Terminal to Iranian Delegation

Israel's Ambassador to the United Nations, Danny Danon, approached members of the Iranian delegation at the UN on Thursday, offering them a Starlink satellite internet terminal. The device was previously showcased during a speech by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

In a video shared on social media, Danon is seen holding the Starlink device and addressing the Iranian representatives. "I thought it would be appropriate to give you the Starlink. It could be very useful for you to allow the Iranian people to regain their freedom after what you have done to them. Do you want to take it and bring it back to Tehran?" he asked.

The Iranian delegation members did not respond to the offer. Danon then added, "We love the Iranian people and we pray for a change of regime." This incident follows several instances of internet shutdowns in Iran. In January 2026, the country experienced a nationwide internet outage during protests against the regime, with connections gradually restored the following month. A further shutdown was imposed after the start of U.S. and Israeli strikes against Iran on February 28, with internet access only being restored in mid-May after 88 days of interruption.

Starlink, developed by Elon Musk's SpaceX, provides internet connectivity via satellite and can bypass terrestrial infrastructure controlled by authorities.
