A 22-year-old resident of Tulkarm, who is believed to be in Israel illegally, was arrested Sunday evening at Herzliya beach on suspicion of committing indecent acts against a minor and a woman who were at the site. Police said they received a report in the evening about a man who had carried out lewd acts against two female bathers.
Officers from the Glilot Station in the Yarkon district were sent to the scene, located the suspect and arrested him. During the identity check, police said, he tried to present himself as an Israeli resident, but investigators determined he was a 22-year-old from Tulkarm staying in Israel without legal permission.
He was taken in for questioning, and investigators are still collecting evidence and findings from the scene. Police said he is expected to be brought today to the Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court, where they will ask to extend his detention.
The arrest came a day after police filed prosecutor's statements against two other West Bank residents suspected of sex offenses in separate incidents in Tel Aviv. One suspect, a resident of Hawara in his 30s, is suspected of indecent acts against a woman and may also be linked to another incident near a nearby club. The second, a resident of Rame in his 30s, was arrested on suspicion of entering a women's restroom at Geula Beach and committing an indecent act against a woman there, and police said he identified himself with a fake Israeli ID. Their detention was extended until Wednesday ahead of indictments.
