IDF Reservist Arrested for Child Pornography After Sex Offense Probe

Police in Hadera arrested an IDF reservist in his 30s, a resident of Elikim, on suspicion of possessing child pornography and explicit content involving minors on his mobile phone. The disturbing discovery was made incidentally by Military Police investigators during a separate investigation into alleged sexual offenses by the reservist within the IDF. The Military Police, known as MPCID, immediately transferred the information to the civilian police, leading to the suspect's arrest.

According to the suspicions, MPCID investigators examining the reservist's phone as part of the military legal proceedings encountered media files containing explicit sexual content involving minors. Following the transfer of this sensitive information, Hadera police initiated investigations, both overt and covert, culminating in the arrest of the single suspect in his 30s. He was taken for questioning under caution.

The suspect was brought before the Hadera Magistrate's Court, where investigators requested an extension of his detention to prevent interference with the investigation and to allow for the full extraction of digital evidence from his device. The judge granted the police's request, extending his detention until Tuesday, September 29. At this stage, both law enforcement and the IDF are maintaining secrecy regarding the details of the original military investigation that led to the seizure of the mobile phone, while the police investigation continues.
