Fallen IDF Drone Operator Becomes Reserve Commander, Driven by Desire to Act

Ofeq Moalem, an Israeli soldier who died from an IDF drone explosion in Gaza, is remembered by his close friend Roi Almouzino as an exceptional individual who always sought to contribute more. Almouzino shared in an interview with Kan News on Friday that he and Moalem had been friends since childhood, describing him as a kind person who was always the first to volunteer and help others.

Moalem excelled in all aspects of his life, from school to the military and his university studies. He enlisted in the army before his friends and served as a combat soldier and team commander, disliking inaction. After completing his regular service two years ago, he quickly rose to become a commander during his reserve duty, a promotion attributed to his proactive nature.

According to Almouzino, Moalem served in the north during his regular service and was responsible for many drones before his discharge. He had also completed a drone course and possessed significant knowledge in the field, though Almouzino refrained from elaborating on specific details.

Almouzino was traveling to Moalem's funeral at the time of the interview, expressing profound grief and the difficulty of accepting the loss. He acknowledged that while his pain is immense, he is aware that thousands of others his age are experiencing similar tragedies.
