Eyal Berkovich Recounts Traumatic Experience Over Son's Health Scare

Former Israeli football star Eyal Berkovich recently shared a deeply personal and traumatic experience on his joint podcast with his son, Lior. The incident unfolded when Lior, who was suffering from shingles, became unreachable for a period, causing his father immense panic.

Berkovich described the escalating anxiety that began late at night when Lior texted him, stating he was "crushed" and taking "40 pills a day." The situation intensified the following morning when Lior stopped responding to calls and messages. This silence prompted Berkovich to mobilize friends and acquaintances to locate his son.

Lior eventually re-established contact around 11 a.m., assuring everyone he was fine and ready to resume normal activities. However, Berkovich revealed that his extreme reaction stemmed from a recent personal tragedy: the death of a close friend two to three months prior. This friend had been living alone and passed away at home, which fueled Berkovich's intense worry about Lior being alone and unresponsive.
