Ukrainian-Israeli Hasid Mobilized for Service in Kharkiv Region
A 49-year-old Hasid, Yonatan Karlinsky-Mashek, who is an Israeli citizen with Ukrainian citizenship, has been mobilized into the Ukrainian military. He arrived in Uman, Ukraine, for the Rosh Hashanah holiday and was detained at the Romanian border. Following his detention, he was taken to a military base near Odesa for training.
After intervention from the Israeli side, Karlinsky-Mashek was provided with kosher food and a prayer book. He is reportedly slated to serve as a medic in a military unit in the Kharkiv region. The mobilized man stated he feels well and is being treated appropriately.
