Haifa Beachfront Restaurant Shut Down for Employing Illegal Workers

A well-known beachfront restaurant in Haifa has been ordered to close for 30 days by police due to its employment of two undocumented workers. The closure order was issued on Thursday after Haifa police discovered the individuals working at the establishment.

The restaurant's owner appealed the decision, but both the Haifa Magistrate's Court and the Haifa District Court upheld the closure. The district court emphasized the seriousness and risks associated with hiring undocumented individuals in Israel.

Police stated they will continue to vigorously pursue employers of undocumented workers, utilizing all available legal tools. This incident follows similar closures of other restaurants in recent months for the same offense. In June, a popular Tel Aviv restaurant on Ben Gurion Boulevard was shut down for 30 days after three undocumented workers were found there. Later that month, the Petra restaurant in Bat Yam was also closed after one undocumented worker was discovered employed and residing at the premises.
