Award-Winning Gaza Documentary 'Nezah' to Stream Free Online

Filmmaker and journalist Yuval Abraham, co-director of the documentary "Nezah" alongside Rachel Shore, announced a wide distribution plan for the film. Starting in November, the film will be available for free online viewing indefinitely, in collaboration with The Guardian newspaper. The filmmakers have also approached Israeli cinemas with an offer to screen the film at no cost, aiming to expose the local public to its content. The documentary, which won the Jury Prize at the Venice Film Festival, is based on three years of journalistic investigation and includes filmed testimonies from 24 soldiers. According to the creators, the project's goal is to spark public discussion about the "open fire" policy, harm to civilians, and infrastructure destruction in the Gaza Strip, with all details meticulously cross-referenced and verified.

In response to accusations of treason and criticism since the film's release, Abraham clarified that exposing events does not diminish the severity of the October 7th massacre. "Journalism is not treason, and criticism is not treason. It is the duty of every citizen to know when their government commits crimes," he stated. Abraham added that despite threats and a heavy personal cost, he and his partner intend to return to Israel soon and continue their work.

The public and political controversy surrounding the film has intensified recently. Minister of Culture and Sport Miki Zohar has escalated his actions against Abraham and Shore. Following his request to the Population and Immigration Authority to consider revoking their citizenship, the minister sent a letter to the head of the Shin Bet, David Zini, demanding an investigation into the source of information and security materials used in the film's production, and the circumstances under which the creators obtained them.
