Award-Winning Gaza Documentary 'No Other Land' to Stream Free Online

Following significant controversy in Israel, the documentary "No Other Land" is set to receive a wide international release. The British newspaper The Guardian, a co-producer, announced that starting September 28, the film will be available in 56 countries. After its cinema run concludes, it will be offered for free online viewing.

The film's North American premiere is scheduled for the upcoming weekend at the New York Film Festival. Concurrently, filmmakers Yuval Abraham and Rachel Shore, along with The Guardian, have approached Israeli cinemas, offering to screen the documentary at no cost. Abraham stated on social media that due to public interest, they decided to make the film freely accessible online indefinitely, allowing everyone to view the soldiers' testimonies. The online release is anticipated for November, the earliest possible date.

Abraham addressed criticism, asserting that discussing events in Gaza does not negate the recognition of the October 7th Hamas massacre. He emphasized that acknowledging atrocities in Gaza does not diminish the horrific October 7th attack, for which Hamas is responsible and which is discussed by soldiers in the film. He also called on soldiers who served in Gaza to share their experiences, stating, "Journalism is not treason. Criticism is not treason." He cited alleged film content including the killing of unarmed individuals, attacks on homes, and shooting at people in food distribution centers.

Abraham and Shore expressed their determination to continue their work in Israel despite threats. The Guardian reiterated its commitment to making the film accessible after its theatrical run, citing its dedication to independent journalism. Investigative reporter Harry Davies of The Guardian highlighted the film's basis in meticulous journalistic work over three years and its power as a cinematic piece.
