IDF Restricts Access to Northern Training Areas During Sukkot Holiday

As the Sukkot holiday begins, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) are urging the public to avoid entering military training and firing zones in northern Israel. These areas will remain active with military exercises throughout the holiday. Access for hikers will be prohibited in various northern regions, including the Golan Heights, Carmel, Ramot Menashe, and the Netofa area, based on ongoing security assessments.

The IDF emphasizes that entering military zones without prior coordination and approval is strictly forbidden. Such unauthorized entry poses a risk to hikers and can disrupt security forces' operations. Military training continues in these designated firing zones even during holidays, and their apparent quietness does not signify permission to enter.

Hikers are advised that entry into firing zones is only permitted after coordinating with the military and receiving explicit approval. In the event of encountering unexploded ordnance, ammunition, or suspicious objects, the public is instructed not to touch them or approach. Instead, they should move away from the area and immediately report the hazard to Northern Command.
