Thousands of Counterfeit-Stamped Eggs Seized Near Jerusalem

Israeli authorities intercepted a significant quantity of eggs suspected of being smuggled with counterfeit stamps near Jerusalem. The operation, conducted by inspectors from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development's Central Unit for Enforcement and Investigations (Pitzuach), took place at the Tunnels Checkpoint.

A truck traveling from Palestinian Authority territories towards Jerusalem was stopped and found to be carrying eight pallets containing approximately 76,000 eggs. These eggs were reportedly brought into Israel without the necessary import permits.

Adding to the suspicion, the eggs bore stamps from Israeli marketers and sorting stations, which authorities believe to be forged. The eggs were subsequently destroyed, and the individual responsible for the shipment will be summoned for questioning as part of an ongoing enforcement action.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development stated that the eggs were seized as part of efforts to prevent the entry of agricultural products that do not meet Israeli standards and regulations, thereby protecting public health and the local agricultural market.
