Police from the Zebulun station uncovered an unusual seizure on Sunday during routine enforcement in Kiryat Bialik. While patrolling Buber Street, officers noticed a car parked on the roadside with several residents gathered nearby, which prompted them to search the vehicle.
Inside, they found about 60 trays of eggs that had not passed the required sanitary inspection, along with about 60 packs of cigarettes suspected of being smuggled. Police said the eggs could pose a public health risk because they had not been sold through the official inspection system, meaning their source, storage conditions and transportation were not monitored.
The driver, a foreign worker from China, was arrested and taken for questioning. The eggs were handed over to inspectors from the Poultry Council for further handling. The cigarettes were transferred to Federation representatives for examination and enforcement, on suspicion that they were tobacco products brought into Israel illegally.
Police are now checking where the goods came from, where they were meant to be delivered, and whether the seizure is part of a broader distribution network for unregulated products.
