Rami Levy Reveals Personal Fortune of 6 Billion Shekels

Prominent Israeli businessman Rami Levy, founder of a major supermarket chain and involved in various other ventures including aviation and telecommunications, has disclosed his personal net worth for the first time. In an interview set to air on Thursday evening on Channel 13, Levy stated that he is worth approximately 6 billion shekels (around $1.6 billion USD).

Levy, who began his career with a small market stall, has built a vast business empire in Israel. Despite his immense wealth, he maintains a modest lifestyle, a point he elaborated on during the interview with Omri Assenheim.

When asked about his fortune, Levy responded, "I am worth a lot of money, let's put it this way. How much? Around 6 billion shekels. What don't people understand about me? In the end, you and I can do the same thing, believe me. When I go to a restaurant with my friends, I have 6 billion and they don't have 6 billion. But we can both pay for the restaurant, it's fine. We feel equal and everything is fine."

Levy explained that his primary use for his wealth is reinvesting in his businesses, stating, "Developing the business" is what he does with the 6 billion shekels.

He also addressed his use of a simple Nokia phone, eschewing smartphones. Levy described his Nokia as "a great phone," noting its lack of WhatsApp and camera. He expressed concern that a smartphone would be too distracting, stating, "I am a curious person and I think it would take up a lot of my time."
