Agent Defends Hapoel Tel Aviv Amid Transfer Inflation Claims

Hapoel Tel Aviv, since entering the EuroLeague, has faced accusations, alongside Dubai, of inflating the basketball transfer market. However, the team has received unexpected support from David Care, the agent of player Thomas Walkup. In an interview with Spanish sports daily AS, Care vehemently denied these claims, calling them "an absolute lie."

Care stated that the accusations against Hapoel and Dubai are an easy excuse used by top EuroLeague clubs to shift blame for market inflation. He argued that powerhouse teams like Olympiacos, Panathinaikos, and Anadolu Efes spend significantly more money and are accustomed to attracting any player they desire, often poaching talent from smaller and mid-tier EuroLeague clubs.

According to Care, these dominant clubs have historically acted as "bullies" in the league, with the "big fish eating the small fish." He explained that Hapoel and Dubai now possess the financial resources to compete at this level, challenging the established order. The agent believes that the teams which have traditionally controlled the market and monopolized the best players are resistant to this change.
