Austria Captain Gregoritsch Expects Passionate, Difficult Match Against Israel

Michael Gregoritsch, poised to captain Austria against Israel on Thursday, expressed his respect for the Israeli national team, describing them as "very good" and "full of passion." Speaking to Sport 5, Gregoritsch acknowledged the challenge ahead, stating, "It will be difficult. It will be a tough game." He highlighted the importance of starting from a 0-0 scoreline, similar to Austria's approach against Spain.

Gregoritsch, who is familiar with Israeli player Oscar Gloukh, emphasized that Austria will need to be at their best to secure a victory. He also commented on the potential impact of injuries to Israel's central defenders, suggesting it would have an effect, though he anticipates Israel will maintain their playing style. Gregoritsch also shared his thoughts on the extended international break, which includes four matches instead of the usual two, noting that while longer periods with the same team can be beneficial, his team is accustomed to the shorter breaks and he is looking forward to the upcoming two weeks.

Gregoritsch also touched upon his new leadership role within the Austrian squad, succeeding long-time leaders David Alaba and Marcel Sabitzer. He stated that increased experience leads to greater responsibility and that while more eyes are on him, he is part of a strong team with many experienced players.
