Ofer Winter Party Activist Defends Netanyahu Amidst Opposition Criticism

Roi Idan, a content writer and campaigner for the 'Amcha Israel' party led by Ofer Winter, has sparked controversy with his recent statements suggesting that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu remains a viable option due to the perceived weakness of opposition candidates. Idan argued that the opposition is so ineffective that Netanyahu is still a possibility, and they are agitated by his continued potential to win.

Following criticism from many who questioned his continued support for Netanyahu after the October 7th attacks, Idan elaborated on his stance in an interview with Radio Galai Israel. He stated that left-wing individuals are distressed by Netanyahu's enduring chances of winning an election post-October 7th, despite extensive campaigns, the ongoing war, and perceived 'consciousness engineering.' He noted that right-wing voters, and the general public, are still dealing with the trauma of the Kaplan Street protests, a sentiment he believes many on the left do not comprehend.

Idan further described the anti-judicial reform protests, largely centered around Kaplan Street, as a deeply traumatic and politically toxic event for many. He pointed to the lack of significant electoral success for protest-aligned parties as evidence that any political movement with a hint of 'Kaplanism' struggles to gain traction.
