Pregnant Gazelle Found Imprisoned in Yard Near Hebron
Authorities discovered a pregnant gazelle, named Tzvia, held illegally in a cage in the yard of a house in the village of Idna, near Hebron. The discovery was made by detectives from the Southern District of the Border Police, alongside other Border Police forces and Israel Nature and Parks Authority inspectors, acting on intelligence.
Tzvia was transferred to the wildlife hospital at the Ramat Gan Safari for veterinary care. Initial examinations revealed her physical condition to be fair, with signs of mistreatment evident. Importantly, the pregnancy is progressing normally and the fetus is viable.
A suspect was arrested and is being questioned by the Nature and Parks Authority on suspicion of illegal hunting, possession, harming, and trafficking of protected natural assets. The operation was a result of a joint effort based on intelligence gathering.
