Massachusetts Man Sentenced to Nearly 10 Years for Threatening Congressman Randy Fine and His Sons

A federal court in Florida has sentenced Edwin Guerrero, a 26-year-old Massachusetts resident, to nine years and 11 months in prison for making threats against Republican Congressman Randy Fine and his two young sons. Guerrero was also fined $15,000 and pleaded guilty in March 2026. According to the U.S. Department of Justice, the threats were posted between August 10-15, 2024, when Fine was still a member of the Florida House of Representatives. Guerrero, who was in Spain at the time, shared antisemitic messages, images of a murdered person, and photos of weapons on social media. He specifically threatened to shoot Fine and stated that his "two little Jewish boys" would suffer the same fate. Upon returning to the U.S., Guerrero admitted to investigators that he was the one who made the posts. A search of his phone revealed a search history containing antisemitic and anti-Israel material. Judge Anne-Marie Gaylord M. ruled that the threats against Fine and his children were motivated by hate.

During the hearing, Fine testified that the threats against his sons were particularly distressing, stating they "made my blood run cold." Following the sentencing, the congressman posted on X, "If you threaten violence against a Florida elected official or their family, your former life is over." The investigation was conducted by the FBI and Florida law enforcement. Fine was elected to the U.S. Congress in 2025, representing Florida's 6th congressional district.
