Yokanem Upgrades Municipal Soccer Field Lighting for NIS 250,000

The Yokanem municipality has recently completed a significant project to upgrade the lighting system at its municipal soccer field, at a cost of approximately NIS 250,000. The upgrade involved installing a new, advanced LED lighting system designed to enhance training and playing conditions during evening hours. This new system provides optimal visibility and uniform light distribution across the entire field, while also reducing energy consumption and environmental impact.

The lighting upgrade is part of a broader municipal initiative to develop and improve sports infrastructure within the city. In the first half of 2026, the municipality invested around NIS 3.8 million in this sector. Other projects include the establishment of beach volleyball courts named after fallen soldier Maor Gershoni, the renovation of the sports field on Miron Street, an upgrade to the Dahari sports hall costing approximately NIS 3 million, and refurbishment of the municipal swimming pool for about NIS 1.1 million.

The municipality is also investing resources in the Hapoel Yokanem women's water polo team, which has won the national championship and state cup annually. Mayor Roman Peres praised the completion of the lighting project, stating the municipality's pride in leading sports development and its continued investment in infrastructure for residents. Peres emphasized that sports in the city are crucial for education, health, values, and community, and that the new lighting will enable safer and higher-quality training and competition. He affirmed the municipality's commitment to local sports as an investment in the city's future.
