US Senator John Fetterman Offers Condolences After Israeli Ambassador's Son Wounded

U.S. Senator John Fetterman has expressed solidarity with the family of Israel's Ambassador to the United States, Yechiel Leiter, following a severe injury to their son, Neriah Leiter. Neriah Leiter, a reservist in his 30s, was critically wounded in a vehicular attack at the Makabim checkpoint on Route 443 earlier today. The Palestinian assailant was killed at the scene.

In response to a post by Ambassador Leiter, Fetterman, a father himself, stated, "As a father, I cannot imagine this uncertainty and pain. Yechiel Leiter, my family, and I send our deepest condolences to you and your family. May your son recover quickly and fully."

Neriah Leiter was evacuated to Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem, where medical teams are fighting for his life. Ambassador Leiter, who is returning to Israel from the U.S. following the incident, had previously appealed to the public for prayers for his son's recovery, citing the belief that "when the people of Israel unite, miracles happen."

This incident occurs as Neriah Leiter continues his reserve duty, having served hundreds of days on various fronts since October 7th. His service follows the death of his older brother, Major Moshe Yedidya Leiter, who fell in combat in northern Gaza in November 2023.
