Two Israeli Basketball Players One Win Away From EuroLeague Berth
Two Israeli basketball players, Doron Dahan Suez and Romi Levi, are one victory away from reaching the prestigious EuroLeague with their team, Crvena Zvezda Belgrade. The Serbian champions secured their spot in the final qualifying round after a comeback victory over Brno of the Czech Republic, with a final score of 75-69. Brno had led by as many as seven points entering the final quarter, but Crvena Zvezda rallied with a 20-12 run in the last ten minutes to secure the win.
Dahan Suez, in her second season with Crvena Zvezda, contributed 4 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, and a steal in 20 minutes of play. She was instrumental in the late surge that sealed the victory. Levi, playing her first game for the team after a collegiate career in the United States, scored 3 points and grabbed one rebound in nine minutes.
This achievement marks a significant step for Israeli women's basketball. Last year, Daniel Raber became only the fourth Israeli woman to play in the EuroLeague. Jordan Gerzon is set to become the fifth after signing with Zaragoza. Dahan Suez and Levi now have the chance to become the sixth and seventh.
Crvena Zvezda will face Hungarian side Miskolc next Wednesday in a decisive match for a place in the EuroLeague. The losing team will compete in the EuroCup.
