Two Israeli basketball players, Dorian Ahanoum Swartz and Romi Levi, are one win away from reaching the Women's EuroLeague with their team, Crvena Zvezda Belgrade. The Serbian champions secured their spot in the final qualifying round with a comeback 75-69 victory over Brno of the Czech Republic on Wednesday.
Brno held a significant seven-point lead entering the final quarter, but Crvena Zvezda, the Serbian champions, rallied with a 20-12 run in the last ten minutes to secure the win. Ahanoum Swartz, in her second season with Belgrade, contributed four points, including crucial baskets in the closing moments, along with two rebounds, two assists, and a steal in 20 minutes of play. Levi, playing her first game for the team after a college career in the United States, scored three points and grabbed one rebound in nine minutes.
Crvena Zvezda will now face Hungary's Miskolc next Wednesday in the decisive match for a place in the EuroLeague. The losing team will compete in the EuroCup. If Crvena Zvezda wins, it will mark the first time two Israeli players have played together in Europe's top women's basketball competition.
