EuroLeague Player Rankings Spark Outrage Among Stars
As the new EuroLeague basketball season is set to tip off on Thursday, a newly released ranking of the top 20 players by Eurohoops has ignited controversy among the league's stars. Several prominent players have voiced their displeasure on social media regarding their placements on the list.
Sasha Vezenkov of Olympiacos tops the ranking, followed by Kendrick Nunn of Panathinaikos in second place and Evan Fournier of Olympiacos in third. Nigel Hayes-Davis and Sylvain Francisco round out the top five.
Notable players included in the top 10 are Mike James at sixth and Nikola Milutinov at seventh. Elijah Bryant, formerly of Hapoel Tel Aviv, secured the 11th spot. Other recognized names on the list are Wade Baldwin at 13th, Facundo Campazzo at 15th, and Kevin Punter at 16th. Tyler Dorsey is ranked 17th, Timothé Luwawu-Cabarrot 18th, and Nadir Hifi 20th.
Israeli teams are also represented. Jalen Hurd of Maccabi Tel Aviv is ranked 43rd. Hapoel Tel Aviv players Daniel Otuore (25th), Zach LeDay (37th), and Sylven Landesberg (41st) are also featured, alongside Bryant.
However, players like Jordan Nwora and Chima Moneke expressed strong dissatisfaction with their positions. Nwora, ranked 44th, and Moneke, placed last at 50th, took to social media to criticize the ranking. Moneke sarcastically dubbed Eurohoops "Europoops," while Nwora commented on the list's perceived trolling nature.
