IDF Nahal Brigade Conducts Major Operations in West Bank
The Israel Defense Forces' Nahal Brigade has intensified its operations across the West Bank in recent months, targeting terror infrastructure. According to official IDF data released Wednesday, the brigade has scanned over 1,200 locations, interrogated approximately 930 suspects, and arrested around 230 wanted individuals. These efforts have yielded significant results, including the discovery of a bomb-making laboratory and the seizure of over 100 weapons and munitions.
The operations, which have spanned the Judea, Menashe, Ephraim, and Samaria regional brigades, have focused on dismantling terror networks. During one raid, soldiers uncovered a facility used for manufacturing explosive devices, a critical component for planned attacks against civilians and security forces. Alongside the arrests and weapons confiscations, which included assault rifles, submachine guns, pistols, and large quantities of ammunition, the IDF emphasized its commitment to continued action against terror.
The data reflects a shift in the Nahal Brigade's mission. Prior to these West Bank operations, the unit spent approximately two months engaged in combat in southern Lebanon. The transition required adapting from offensive maneuvers in enemy territory to sustained presence, defensive tasks, and rapid responses to emerging incidents.
One notable operation occurred in early September in the Samaria region, involving the IDF and Border Police in the villages of Qabalan, 'Azmut, 'Aqrab, and Yatma, under the guidance of the Shin Bet. During this operation, forces attempted to interrogate a militant affiliated with a terror organization in 'Aqrab. The individual reportedly threw a firebomb and an improvised explosive device at the soldiers before being eliminated by Nahal reconnaissance troops after breaching his location. The IDF stated the suspect was armed with a knife and intended to attack the forces.
During that same operation, four additional wanted individuals were apprehended. The IDF reported that three were involved in arms trafficking, and one was planning an imminent attack. Forces interrogated about 60 individuals and located ammunition, a rocket-propelled grenade launcher, and other military equipment during searches of approximately 70 sites.
