Fallen Soldier Honored Through Unique Beer Cart Initiative

Ezra Ngar, father of Sergeant Tomer Ngar, who fell in combat on October 7th, is commemorating his son through a unique beer cart initiative. Tomer, a machine gunner, was stationed at the Kissufim outpost and, during the Hamas attack, single-handedly engaged terrorists for approximately 42 minutes. He fired 675 rounds from his Negev machine gun, preventing their infiltration into the outpost and the nearby Kissufim kibbutz, thereby saving many lives.

In recognition of his bravery, IWI (Israel Weapon Industries) donated a specialized beer cart to the family. This cart is used to serve beer produced in Tomer's memory across Israel. The profits generated are donated to children's causes, reflecting Tomer's own extensive volunteer work with children.

Tomer's friends, who fought alongside him on October 7th, operate the cart at various events. For them, the initiative serves as a therapeutic tool to cope with post-traumatic stress and combat shock. Ezra Ngar shared that despite the beer-centric memorial, neither he nor his wife ever drank alcohol, highlighting the symbolic nature of the project.

Ngar expressed that public reactions have been deeply moving, with people understanding that their current sense of normalcy is thanks to the heroism of Tomer and his comrades. He concluded with a message of unity to the Israeli people, emphasizing that the soldiers who defended the country did not distinguish between political or religious affiliations, reminding everyone, "We are brothers."
