Ondas Acquires Three Israeli Defense Tech Firms for $56 Million
Ondas, a provider of autonomous systems and next-generation security technologies, has announced the acquisition of three Israeli defense technology companies for a total of $56 million. The deal includes potential additional payments of up to $32 million, contingent on performance targets through 2028. The acquisitions are aimed at enhancing Ondas' existing and future autonomous platforms, accelerating new solution development, and expanding growth opportunities in the defense and autonomous systems markets.
Ondas, which recently appointed former Mossad chief David Barnea as its chairman, stated that these acquisitions align with its strategy to consolidate critical technologies for more effective, resilient, and widely deployable autonomous systems in threat environments. "These acquisitions reflect our strategy to consolidate critical technologies needed to make autonomous systems more effective, resilient, and broadly deployable in threatened environments," said Eric Brock, Chairman and CEO of Ondas Inc.
The acquired companies are Insignito, Ottopia Defense, and Caribou Labs. Insignito specializes in passive acoustic detection technology to identify, classify, track, and locate drones based on their acoustic signatures, with its flagship DUMBO system already deployed in active combat zones. Ottopia Defense provides software and communication infrastructure connecting unmanned platforms to remote operators and control centers, enabling real-time data transfer even in challenging or bandwidth-limited environments. Caribou Labs focuses on resilient communication in GPS-denied environments, developing robust communication and precise identification capabilities for electronic warfare scenarios.
These new capabilities are expected to bolster Ondas' technological ecosystem, encompassing detection, connectivity, navigation, autonomy, and mission execution. The move is part of Ondas' "System of Systems" strategy, integrating technologies from multiple platforms to improve products, speed up development, and broaden market reach and revenue opportunities.
