Elderly Man Found Dead in Beersheba Apartment Days After Passing

Emergency responders were alerted on Tuesday evening to a deceased 74-year-old man found in his Beersheba apartment. ZAKA volunteers from the Negev region, responding to the scene on HaHalutz Street, confirmed the man had been dead for several days. The discovery was made by the man's son, who arrived for a visit and found his father unresponsive, prompting him to call for help. ZAKA's Southern Command manager, Nuriel Zaguri, along with volunteers Yosef and Yehonatan Mursian, described the scene as difficult and complex, requiring careful handling of the deceased and evidence collection.

Following the incident, Haim Weingarten, ZAKA's Deputy Operations Director, issued an urgent public appeal. He highlighted the recurring nature of such cases, where elderly or solitary individuals are found only after a significant delay following their deaths. Weingarten urged the public to remain attentive to neighbors, family members, and acquaintances living alone, emphasizing that a simple phone call or a knock on the door could potentially save a life.
