Western Wall Prepares for Sukkot with Priestly Blessing Events
The Western Wall Heritage Foundation has completed its preparations for the upcoming Sukkot holiday. A central event will be the Priestly Blessing ceremony, which will take place on two separate occasions during the holiday.
These ceremonies are expected to draw large crowds and will include the participation of Holocaust survivors and bereaved families. The foundation has also erected elaborate sukkahs in the Western Wall plaza to accommodate visitors during the festival.
The Priestly Blessing, known as Birkat Kohanim, is a traditional Jewish ritual performed by kohanim (descendants of the priestly line) who bless the assembled Jewish people. It is a significant event, particularly at the Western Wall, Judaism's holiest site.
