Israel's National Security Minister Ben-Gvir Survives 11th Assassination Attempt

Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir stated on Wednesday that this was the eleventh time an attempt had been made on his life, following the exposure of a terrorist cell that planned to assassinate him. The Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) and the counter-terrorism unit of the Judea and Samaria District Police uncovered the cell operating near Nablus. Two Palestinians were involved in advancing terrorist activities, acquiring weapons, conducting firing practice, recruiting operatives, and planning deadly attacks.

During their investigation, it was revealed that in 2024, the cell conceived a plan to attack Ben-Gvir. According to the indictment, after watching a video of the minister arriving at a terror attack site, one of the operatives suggested a "pull-in attack," waiting for Ben-Gvir to arrive and then assassinating him. He also proposed using an explosive drone for the assassination and attempted to procure drone parts from China for this purpose.

Ben-Gvir responded to the news, saying, "Thank God, He saves me from their hands! I have a message for all those enemies: this will not deter me and will not frighten me. I will continue to lead a tough policy in the prisons, I will continue to lead the policy of demolishing illegal construction in the Negev, and I will continue to ensure that the death penalty law we passed is activated and implemented."

He added, "They fear and tremble at the thought that I will be the Minister of Defense, because they know well: with me there are no compromises and no discounts. What I say, I do." Ben-Gvir mentioned visiting a prison the previous week and meeting some of those who tried to assassinate him, observing their fear. He concluded by thanking God, the Shin Bet, the Israel Police, the IDF, and the Magen unit for his protection, stating, "He who believes does not fear."
