Stars to Honor Hanan Yovel at 80th Birthday Tribute Concert

A special tribute concert celebrating the 80th birthday of Israeli singer-songwriter Hanan Yovel will take place on November 19th at the Tel Aviv Culture Hall. The event, titled "The Night is Songs," will feature performances of Yovel's greatest hits by a lineup of prominent Israeli artists.

Scheduled to perform are Shalom Hanoch, Shlomo Artzi, Rivka Michaeli, Nunu, Asaf Amdursky, Ethnix, HaGiv'atron, Dorit Re'uveni, Danny Bassan, and Eli Botner and the Band. Yovel's daughter, Shira Yovel, will also participate, alongside musicians like Uri Harpaz, Gabi, Uri and Boaz Benayoun, Daniel Weiss, cellist Maya Belezitzman, Raz Shmueli, and the nine-piece band accompanying the performers.

Yair Nitzani will host the evening, with musical direction by veteran Dalit Ofer and arrangements and musical management by Ohad Ben Avi. Yovel, who hails from Kibbutz Mishmarot, has been active in Israeli music for over six decades, composing and performing classics such as "You Remember the Songs," "Half a Meeting," and "When This Song Sounds Familiar to You."

Throughout his career, Yovel has also been involved in notable renditions of songs like "Night of Stay," "Song of Ascents," and "Good Troubles." Beyond his musical contributions, he has advocated for the rights of creators and performers in Israel, particularly for veteran artists. His work has been recognized with Acum awards, an AMI Lifetime Achievement Award, and the 2021 Arik Einstein Culture Minister's Award.
