Top Israeli Artists to Honor Hanan Yovel's 80th Birthday

A tribute concert titled "The Night is Songs" will celebrate the 80th birthday of renowned Israeli singer-songwriter Hanan Yovel on November 19th at the Tel Aviv Opera House. The event will feature a star-studded lineup of artists paying homage to Yovel's six-decade career. Among the performers are prominent musicians such as Shalom Hanoch, Shlomo Artzi, Rivka Michaeli, and the band Ethniks, alongside a nine-piece band. Other participating artists include Ella and the Benai brothers (Gabi, Uri, and Boaz), Assaf Amdursky, Danny Bassan, Dorit Reuveni, HaGivaton, Uri Harpaz, Eli Botner and the band, Nunu, Maya Belzitzman, Daniel Weiss, Raz Shmueli, and Shira Yovel.

The evening will be hosted by Yair Nitzani, with Dalith Ofer serving as editor and Ohad Ben Avi as musical director. Ticket prices range from 299 to 439 shekels.

Hanan Yovel's musical journey began in his youth, leading to his service in the Nachal Entertainment Troupe from 1965 to 1966. After his discharge, he joined the Yoel Dan Trio for a tour in the United States. Upon his return, he formed the influential trio 'Ha'Shloshim' with Beni Amdursky and Shalom Hanoch, active from 1969 to 1970, known for their hit song "Tzarot Tovot." The trio reunited in 1991 for a successful album.

In the late 1960s, Yovel also founded the band 'Keif HaTikva Ha'Tova,' which included Josie Katz and Shlomo Mizrachi. Following its dissolution, he joined 'Shovavei Zion' until 1971. Yovel launched his solo career in 1974 with his self-titled album, featuring the iconic song "Atem Zochrim Et Ha'Shirim," written by Yehonatan Geffen. His extensive catalog, including songs he performed and composed for others, has become a cornerstone of Hebrew music.
