Stars to Honor Hanan Yovel at 80th Birthday Tribute Concert

A special tribute concert celebrating the 80th birthday of Israeli singer-songwriter Hanan Yovel will take place on November 19th at the Tel Aviv Culture Hall. The event, titled "The Night is Songs," will feature performances of Yovel's greatest hits by a lineup of prominent Israeli artists.

Scheduled to perform are Shalom Hanoch, Shlomo Artzi, Rivka Michaeli, Nunu, Asaf Amdursky, Ethniks, HaGiv'atron, Dorit Re'uveni, Danny Bassan, and Eli Botner and his band. Yovel's daughter, Shira Yovel, will also participate, alongside musicians like Uri Harpaz, Gaby, Uri and Boaz Benayoun, Daniel Weiss, cellist Maya Belezitzman, Raz Shmueli, and Eli Botner.

The concert will feature Yovel's songs performed by a nine-piece band. Yair Nitzani will host the evening, with musical direction by veteran Dalia Ofer and arrangements by Ohad Ben Avi.

Yovel, who hails from Kibbutz Mishmarot, has been active in Israeli music for over six decades. He is known for classic songs he composed and performed, including "You Remember the Songs," "Half a Meeting," "If This Song Sounds Familiar," "Let the Sun Pass Over Me," "Me, Simone, and Little Moïse," "The Night is Songs," and "Everyone Has a Name." He also participated in well-known renditions of "Night of Stationing," "Song of Ascents," "Good Troubles," and "Noga."

Beyond his musical career, Yovel has been a longtime advocate for the rights of creators and performers in Israel, particularly for veteran artists. His contributions have been recognized with Acum awards, an AMI Lifetime Achievement Award, and the 2021 Arik Einstein Ministry of Culture Award.
