The Israel Football Association said on Sunday that it received a formal complaint from the lawyers of M.S. Ashdod alleging that Ironi Tiberias may have used prohibited intravenous infusions around the teams’ lower-bracket playoff match, which Tiberias won 3-0. Ashdod’s complaint, filed by attorney Amit חדד, calls for an immediate, comprehensive investigation, review of all evidence sent to the association, and action under the rules of the association, FIFA and WADA.
According to officials at Israel’s National Anti-Doping Organization, if Tiberias is found guilty the club could face suspension from competition for up to four years, and its results and matches could be annulled. Individuals found to have been involved could also face personal sanctions.
The anti-doping authority, which works with the association and is bound by WADA rules, says the next step would be a hearing or formal charges. The football association may also pursue its own disciplinary and legal proceedings in parallel.
Everyone at Tiberias is expected to be questioned, from players to the coaching staff. Head coach Eliran Hudda is currently abroad.
